Join us at the historic Grandin Theatre in Roanoke, VA on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 7:00PM for an exclusive screening of Rock Castle Home. The show will have live music by The Hazy Mountain String Band followed by a Q&A with the filmmaking team. Tickets are $12+tax and available for sale online or in person when the Theatre is open. The event is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.

Rock Castle Home delves deep into the history of a 1930's Virginia mountain community displaced by the Blue Ridge Parkway. Told through the words of community members working to preserve their history and identity, Rock Castle Home tells a universal story about the human fight to preserve our stories despite the political, economic, and natural forces that seek to subsume them.

The Hazy Mountain String Band plays ‘old-time’ mountain music in the ‘local’ tradition of the Blue Ridge area of  Southwest Virginia. The band centers around the fiddle and banjo music of 11 year old fiddler Cheyenne and clawhammer banjo of 10 year old Wyatt Grantham along with 5 year old little sister, Gatlyn, on bass.  Their repertoire includes old-time dance tunes, vocal duets, and waltz numbers. They are joined and supported on stage by their mentors Mac Traynham and Andy Buckman from The Handmade Music School associated with the Floyd Country Store. Roanoke native, Barry Kemp,  joins them on bass to round out the sound.

THIS SCREENING IS NOW SOLD OUT.
