Our Mission & Values statement
Mission
To preserve the historic Grandin Theatre as a cultural and educational resource devoted to film and the cinematic arts for Western Virginia.
Values statement
At the Grandin Theatre Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of projected art, live performance, social discourse, community, and history. We are committed to:
• Accessibility - Welcoming all voices and perspectives, ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued in our space and providing an environment where everyone can participate in and benefit from the arts.
• Community Engagement – Creating meaningful connections by partnering with local nonprofits, businesses, schools, artists, audiences, and stakeholders to strengthen the social fabric of our region.
• Cultural Preservation – Honoring the Grandin Theatre’s past while embracing innovation that ensures its vitality and sustainability for generations to come.
• Artistic Integrity – Curating diverse, thought-provoking projected and live events that inspire conversation, creativity, and understanding.
Through these values, we strive to be the most trusted and beloved independent theatre in Virginia’s Blue Ridge and serve as a vibrant cultural hub where stories come alive, and our community thrives.
who we are
The historic Grandin Theatre is operated by the Grandin Theatre Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.
The Theatre also serves as the historic, geographic and cultural anchor for the Grandin Road Commercial Historic District.
In addition, the Theatre also serves as an economic driver. A healthy Theatre Foundation and a well attended Theatre translates to patrons and guests spending their time and discretionary income in the surrounding restaurants, retail stores, and service-oriented businesses in the Grandin Village community. A healthy Grandin Village is in turn good for the City of Roanoke and the greater Roanoke Valley, providing arts and cultural offerings for residents, visitors and guests.
Lastly, the Grandin Theatre is one of the jewels in the arts and cultural crown of the Roanoke Valley, and the greater Southwest region.
Our goal - to keep it shiny!
