Come celebrate African-American Film history with the 90th Anniversary screening of silent film Body and Soul by pioneer African American director and Roanoke resident Oscar Micheaux. Live music accompaniment by Matt Marshall and the Reel Music Ensemble. Introduction and Q and A will be lead by noted Micheaux expert, Bayer Mack.

Paul Robeson plays an escaped convict posing as a Preacher while trying to infiltrate a home, steal their money and the lady of the house. Will the heroine be able to keep the wolf in sheep’s clothing at bay and reunite with her true love?

Introduction and Q and A will be provided by Oscar Micheaux documentary filmmaker and producer Bayer Mack.

Bayer L. Mack is the writer, director and producer of The Czar of Black Hollywood, a documentary film chronicling the early life and career of African-American filmmaker Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951). Mack is a nationally-published American entertainment journalist, record executive and film producer,  best known as the founder of the independent record label Block Starz Music and its subsidiary Block Starz Music Television, an independent film and television company that produces and distributes online video and original web series.
