Hosting an Event

What better environment can you think of than to host your event in the oldest nonprofit community movie palace in the Roanoke Valley!  As a multi-use facility, Grandin Theatre can set the stage for your event to truly make it remarkable!

Multiple venue layout combinations help you customize your event to best suit your needs in our facility.  We offer our glorious Main Theatre with its high ceiling, lavish art-deco designs and 323 seat capacity.  Our Main Lobby and second-floor foyer add opportunities to cater your events in our public open spaces.  You can also rent one of our second floor theatres or our Screening Room for a more intimate affair!  Host your event with us and take advantage of:

  • Our dedicated staff who will work diligently in advance and on the day of to assist you with details, setup planning, pre-film screening tests, and pricing.
  • Take advantage of our technical capabilities to run presentations, photo reels, or provide access to our PA system.
  • As the cultural anchor for the Historic Grandin Village District, our versatile spaces can accommodate workshops, educational matinees, business seminars, birthday parties, anniversaries, community services, gala events, and private screenings.

With enough planning time, we'll even assist you in creating a movie-themed event!  Now how fun is that?!

Catering and Alcohol Control

Though the Grandin Theatre does not have an onsite kitchen, we are able to host caterers who arrive with prepared food for your event.  Catering stations for food and beverage can go in our main lobby areas, or can be placed specifically in one of our four (4) theatres for rent.  Your options will be dependent on the caterer you choose, but we'll handle the setup!

Currently, the Grandin Theatre does not have an on-premise ABC license.  If you are hosting an event at the Grandin Theatre where alcohol will be served you may need a banquet, banquet special event, or mixed beverage special event ABC license. For complete information on alcohol licensing requirements you may visit the ABC web page at If you have questions the staff of the Grandin Theatre can walk you through your options.  If you do pull a license for your event, copies of the license and arrangements must be submitted for approval by Grandin Theatre's Director of Operations prior to your event.
